Discover the Joy of Self-Expression! It's time to Schedule a break from the Noise of the World!

For many of us caught in the relentless rhythm of daily life, it's easy to get ensnared in the treadmill of routine, where weeks seamlessly blend into months, and years slip away unnoticed. As an artist and the founder of the Art Photography Academy, I've come to recognise the profound importance of carving out dedicated time for creativity and the peril of perpetually staying on life's demanding treadmill.

In the midst of our demanding lives, the notion of scheduling creative time may seem counterintuitive to some. However, I firmly believe that "great art flows from a relaxed and attentive mind." This principle underscores the necessity of creating intentional spaces for artistic expression amidst the chaos of our daily obligations.

A poignant lesson on the significance of proactive creativity scheduling came to me during a conversation with an elderly and wise artist. Expressing my desire to emulate his artistic achievements, I said, "I wish I could do what you do," to which he responded with a steadfast gaze, "It ain't going to come from wishing, my boy." His words became a profound reminder that artistic fulfilment requires more than mere aspiration—it demands intentional action.

Many of us fall into the trap of postponing our creative pursuits, often telling ourselves, "Tomorrow I will find time," or "I'll explore my artistic side when I retire." However, the truth is, "artistic retirement does not exist."

Henri Matisse, a luminary in the world of art, once remarked, "Creativity takes courage." Scheduling dedicated time for creativity is an act of courage, a commitment to prioritise the well-being of your mind and spirit.

My advice is simple: treat your creative time with the same respect and dedication you would give to a business meeting, a round of golf, or a spa appointment. Open your diary and schedule a couple of hours each week devoted to connecting with your artistic side. What may start as a mere couple of hours will likely evolve into a longer, deeply enriching practice.

Remember, as Matisse wisely put it, "There are always flowers for those who want to see them." By carving out time for creativity, you'll start to see the beauty that life has to offer, and your mental well-being will thank you for it, I promise you.

So, take that leap, schedule your creative time, and embark on a journey that promises not only artistic fulfilment but also a profound impact on your overall artistic well-being.

As the new year looms, don't wait to consider a resolution. Open up your diary and start now to schedule creative time for yourself, and stay true to this appointment. This time could be spent:

The most crucial aspect is that action is taken. Once thing I can promise you is that there will probably be less time for your creativity next year. As we approach the end of 2024, we will be revisiting this discussion.

Creativity is not a luxury; it is an essential balm for the soul, providing a sanctuary from the world's noise and fostering an inward focus. It's time to prioritise your mental well-being and embrace the transformative power of creativity.

Now go, your art awaits!

Kind Regards,
